I’d been hearing Ayers’ commercials on Santa Barbara Radio for about a year. My 2019 Honda CR-V was due for an oil change, so I thought I’d give Ayers Repairs a try. My last oil change at one of those places that ONLY does oil changes was a minor DISASTER - when they went to drain the old oil (which, of course, has to be done before you can put in a full crankcase of new oil), that crummy shop USED A PAIR OF PLIERS TO REMOVE THE BOLT THAT GOES IN THE DRAIN HOLE INSTEAD OF THE RIGHT-SIZED WRENCH, AND STRIPPED OUT THE HEXAGONAL-SHAPED HEAD OF THAT BOLT! I HAD TO BUG THE MANAGER OF THAT PLACE NO LESS THAN TEN TIMES (!) UNTIL THEY FINALLY GOT A NEW REPLACEMENT BOLT FOR THE DRAIN IN THE OIL PAN!! AND IT TURNED OUT THAT THIS CRUMMY SHOP DIDN’T EVEN PUT IN THE MOBIL 1 SYNTHEITC OIL I’D ASKED THEM TO PUT IN!!!!. IT WILL BE A COLD DAY IN DEATH VALLEY BEFORE I GIVE THOSE GUYS MY BUSINESS AGAIN! SO. THE NEXT TIME I WAS DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE, I TOOK MY CR-V TO AYERS REPAIRS. NOT ONLY DID THEY USE THE RIGHT TOOL TO REMOVE THAT BOLT FROM THE DRAIN, THEY ACTUALLY PUT IN THE OIL I SPECIFICALLY ASKED FOR - MOBIL ONE 0W-50 MULTI-VISCOSITY OIL. EVERYTHING WENT PERFECTLY, THE WAY THEIR RADIO COMMERCIAL PROMISED… AYERS TOOK CARE OF ME AND MY CAR, AND THEY DID IT WHILE I WAS OUT HAVING LUNCH. AND THE PRICE WAS VERY REASONABLE, CONSIDERING THAT MOBIL ONE SYNTHETIC OIL ISN’T WHAT YOU’D CALL “CHEAP”, ESPECIALLYWHEN YOU COMPARE THE PRICE OF THE STUFF TO MOST OTHER MOTOR OILS ON THE MARKET. BUT I’VE USED NOTHING BUT MOBIL ONE IN THE LAST 5 CARS I’VE OWNED, AND I HAVE NEVER NEEDED AN ENGINE REPAIR WITH ANY OF THEM! THERE’S NO “MAGIC FORMULA” HERE - IT’S JUST ALWAYS BEEN MOBIL ONE IN THE ENGINE, AND K&N OIL & AIR FILTERS (AND WHEN YOU BUY A K&N AIR FILTER, IF YOU GET THEIR CLEANING KIT, YOU’LL NEVER NEED TO BUY ANOTHER AIR FILTER FOR THAT VEHICLE! THE KIT COMES WITH AN AEROSOL DETERGENT THAT YOU SPRAY ON THE FILTER (ONCE YOU’VE REMOVED IT FROM THE ENGINE), LET IT SIT FOR A WHILE, THEN JUST WASH THE DIRT OUT OF IT WITH A GARDEN HOSE, LET IT DRY, AND PUT IT BACK IN! THEN YOU’RE GOOD FOR ANOTHER YEAR, YEAR AND A HALF. HOW LONG IT WILL LAST BEFORE YOU HAVE TO CLEAN IT AGAIN DEPENDS 💯% ON HOW DUSTY IT IS WHERE YOU DRIVE. BUT LOOK AT THE FILTER AFTER 3000 MILES. IF IT’S BLACK, IT’S TIME TO CLEAN IT AGAIN. THE WHOLE PROCESS IT EASY TO DO, AND YOU CAN SET THINGS UP SO YOU HAVE SOMETHING ELSE TO ACCOMPLISH WHILE THE FILTER’S DRYING AND THEN YOU CAN PUT IT BACK IN. IF YOU’RE CAREFUL WITH IT, IT’S GONNA LAST AS LONG AS YOUR CAR DOES… MAYBE LONGER! ANYWAY, THE NICE PEOPLE AT AYERS REPAIRS ON CHAPALA DID A GREAT JOB WITH MY CAR, AND I’M DEFINITELY BRINGING IT BACK TO THEM WHENEVER IT NEEDS SERVICE. THEY REALLY DO WHAT THEIR RADIO COMMERCIAL SAYS - TOOK CARE OF ME AND MY CAR!
