Behind the Counter- Car Condition
I cannot tell you how many times
a day I hear, "I'm not going to fix
the car, and I'll just sell it and get a
new one." Then I ask are you going
to buy a new car or a used car. If
the client is going to consider a new
car, I discuss the cost of a new car
– they are not without maintenance
plus most of us need to finance a
new car. The expense, while it sounds reasonable at
the time, does add up.
The next problem I have is looking at used cars. Now
knowing the condition of the car you are going to replace,
what are the odds a used car has similar types
of problems. Probably pretty good. So do you sell
your car after it is all repaired or do you sell it hoping
the next buyer won't know the problems with the vehicle.
Hmm, difficult decision to make. If you decide
to buy or sell a vehicle I recommend you have a prepurchase
inspection done. Selling one – so you know
what needs to be disclosed and you won't be blindsided
by a buyer trying to get a better deal than they
deserve. Buying one – you absolutely need to know
the condition of the vehicle and where you are starting
from. I can tell you from experience these days,
that during the economic downturn lots of maintenance
was put off by car owners and some of that is
coming back to bite them in awful ways.
This month on our website (www.ayersrepairs.com)
I have asked Nikki to feature a vehicle pre-purchase
inspection check sheet. It is a great place for you to
start looking at whether or not you want to sell or
buy a used car. If you have any questions or are concerned
about the condition of selling your car, Ayers
Automotive can perform a pre-purchase inspection
for you.
Thanks for being great clients!
